Beef Breads Main Dish Recipe

Creating a Pub supper on the cheap

Last night I was home late from work and looking for something quick and filling for my handsome husband, who had been working outside all day.  He likes meat, specifically a good hamburger.  After wander from pantry, to fridge, to freezer and back again, I couldn't seem to find all of the ingredients for any one dish -- I had lots of stuff, I just seemed to be missing at least one item from everything I thought I'd make. So I punted.  I had only a loaf of white bread (my husband's), but no buns.  I had some cheese, Provolone, and an onion -- so Patty Melts, sounded so much "fancier" than a hamburger on white bread.  I got by for under $5.00 for two people, maybe less, but I didn't calculate out the ketchup, etc.. --  for the whole meal (beef is high right now)...And my husband was pretty impressed, he had no idea I was making it up as I went along. So I'm not sure this is really a recipe -- it's just a guideline...use what you have or like...but this turned out pretty yummy for a act of desperation.
