Christmas Tree Farm Fun – Wreath Making 101

Last week several of the ladies from my blogging group -- North Iowa Bloggers took a trip to a local Christmas tree farm, Carlson Tree Farm, to make wreaths.  What a fun time we had!  This was my first trip and I was a bit nervous about what I would end up with, but guess what -- perfection is not required!  I don't know about you, but I know I've had some unfortunate results from some of the Pinterest DIY projects I've attempted in the past, so I was delighted that I came home with a lovely Christmas wreath! Wreaths have been used for thousands of years -- long before we began to use them as a Christmas Decoration.  The Greeks and the Romans used them to denote power and victory.  The circular pattern can represent the cycle of the seasons, from spring to winter and eventually to spring again, the hope of life renewing itself.  The evergreen, most frequently used in making wreathes, symbolizes growth and everlasting life. Making my wreath was made easy by having the right tools as my husband would say! Carlson's had EVERYTHING we needed at their finger tips and all the right equipment to make our wreaths durable and easy to create!  The machine we used was awesome and I want one for my farm!!!  All you had to do was put together a little bouquet of greenery, tuck it onto the metal wreath provided, make sure it was lined up, and push the peddle down with your foot and BINGO -- everything was snug as a bug! I loved this idea as a fun girl day trip activity, but I think kids would love making their own wreaths too!  Christmas tree farms aren't just for trees anymore!
