Summer Strawberry Ice Cream Perfection
Last year for Father's Day I gave my husband a Cuisinart ice cream machine. Well, I might have given it to myself, but only so I could lovingly hand make him fabulous ice cream. I made all kinds of ice cream last year, but it is August and I am just pulling it out for the first time this summer. I've been a bit of a slacker on the ice cream front I must confess -- however, I think this strawberry ice cream recipe has redeemed me. I am not a trained chef -- just a home cook who enjoys good food. Although I do create some recipes myself, I like most people, search through my cookbook collection and cooking sites for classic recipes. The best recipes use a few excellent ingredients and this recipe from epicurious.com nails it! It is by far the best strawberry ice cream I've ever had anywhere.....creamy goodness with the strawberry the star. You can get their full Perfect No-Cook Strawberry Ice Cream recipe by ANDREA ALBIN GOURMET AUGUST 2009 at: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/perfect-no-cook-strawberry-ice-cream-354503 There are just a few ingredients and several easy steps to this ice cream, I made up my mixture in the evening, chilled it overnight and made ice cream for breakfast...lol... well, I ate for breakfast and counted it as my fruit and dairy -- my husband waited for an afternoon snack. I can't wait to try this recipe with my farm fresh raspberries. My mind is spinning with the possibilities! Keep it simple and enjoy! --Mary
